Introspection Done Right: The Alleppey Connection

Long weekends are always a welcome change, and in India, we are blessed with plenty of public holidays throughout the year. This gives us plenty of scope to have a good time during extended weekends.

The world and its pace often drains us out and leaves us defenseless when it comes to our inner evolution. What should we do to better our lives and be happier in general? The answer is retrospection and introspection. Both are two sides of the same coin. When you retrospect, you end up wondering what made you think and act the way you did in a certain situation. This instantly galvanises your brain into action. The result? Your actions and reactions may see a shift in the future – even when you are faced with the same situation.
But do you get enough time to flip this coin and choose introspection or retrospection? Not really, right? That is what the world today is doing to us with its pace and a long list of things that we must amass in the socio economic perspective. So how can you take time off to look within and create an air of introspection? Take a break and head to a tranquil place like Alleppey! Here’s a quick guide into creating a break filled with introspection!
1. Breathe: Before you decide to take a break for some much needed introspection, ask yourself why you need to introspect. Have you been facing a hard time with your moods, or has life generally been giving you a lot of challenges? Do you feel like you could face these challenges in a better way? Sometimes, a little thinking time results in much better action later. So think about this properly before you decide to take that break to Alleppey or any other quiet town!
2. Switch off: Once you decide to take off, remember to switch off. It will do you no good to carry your distractions with you. These will only serve to keep you from introspection and retrospection. So take your devices, switch them off and make a pact with yourself – one hour of communication per day. Check your emails and reply to your messages during that one precious hour, so that you do not have any distractions during your introspection journey. Also, it would be a good idea to sign off your social media accounts so that there are no unnecessary inputs clouding your judgement and thinking.
3. Choose your Spot: Location really does matter when you are taking a break. Imagine being in a packed resort with much fun and frolic. Do you see yourself in the introspection mood? Nope – not happening! Instead, choose a tranquil vacation rental property where you will have the property to yourself and a fully staffed space where you will not have to worry about a thing. Ensure that you are not confined to a hotel room, and you have the space to walk around even as you take breaks from all your thinking. Choose a spot close to your city, like a vacation rental property near Bangalore’s airport, or a spot in Alleppey.
4. Write and Think: One of the best ways to start your journey of looking inwards or introspection, is with the written word. Sometimes, we are not able to express ourselves freely when we feel like we will be judged by the listener. And at other times, we may need the affirmation of the written word to accept how we are feeling. Either ways, writing is a healthy part of the introspection journey as it helps in getting precious insight. This can lead to solutions for current challenges. Position yourself in a quiet spot like the backwaters of Alleppey or any other sleepy hillside town, before you take on this task.
5. Meditation and Other Wellness Tactics: To think and to think clearly are two different things. In case you are looking to remove the fog from the mirror that reflects your daily grind, you may have to create a more relaxing vibe from within. Look at tactics like meditation, massages, yoga and long walks to rejuvenate your senses, and to be truly receptive of everything you will find. A wellness vacation in Alleppey would be a good idea for your journey of introspection.
6.Eat, Sleep, Pray: Remember to eat and sleep well during your break. You may be tempted to binge watch all your favourite movies – but that will not really solve your introspection purpose. Instead, set aside a specific time to eat and sleep. A routine will not only feed your body, but it will also feed your soul. You will be able to think more clearly even as you put yourself first. Making time for a meal with yourself and giving yourself the right number of hours as far as sleep is concerned, will put you in the right frame of mind.

Letting yourself enjoy includes making time for yourself – so put your mind at ease and make space for introspection with these tips. In case you are looking for the ideal place, we are just a call away!
