Summer is here and so is the matter of preparing for that annual summer vacation! Whether you are heading to a resort or taking the tranquil route at a holiday rental property, you need to be well prepared for the summer vacation. Here are a few tips to make sure all goes well and you come back home with some great memories!
1. Make a List: Before you zero in on the location for your summer vacation, you will need to make a list of the places you can head to. This list will depend on a number of things. To start with, you will need to talk to all the family members and know their choices. Further, you will need to find out what fits into your budget . Are you going to travel within the country or internationally? Are you going to stay at a 5 star resort or a fully staffed holiday rental property with all the privacy in the world? How are you going to get there? All these questions need to be considered before you make your list of places and pick one!
2. Be Prepared for the Road: Whether you are taking a flight, organizing a road trip, or taking a train – you need to be well prepared. This preparation will depend on the age of the members you are travelling with. Make sure that you have plenty of snacks, wipes, and hand sanitizer to start with. Thereafter, make sure that the clothing you pack is in keeping with the terrain, activities and the climate of the place you are travelling to. If you are travelling to the backwaters of Kerala, you would do well to pack in all your summer essentials along with plenty of swim wear, flip flops and sun screen!
3. Make a few Calls: If you are looking to travel as a group of couples or a large family, you should think of renting a holiday rental property where you will have plenty of privacy and a fully staffed space. Call in advance and ask about the amenities for children and older people. Also, find out what kind of activities and entertainment will be available. Sports, movies on a projector screen, a pool, and more are usually available at such properties. You should also find out about the menu and the food options that are available in case anyone from your group has a specific dietary restriction.
4. Plan! A successful summer vacation is one that has been well planned. With a search engine and your phone, you can quickly find out the best spots to see in the place you are travelling to. Make sure that you check for visiting times and days. This will help you remain prepared. In case you are not sure, you can always speak with your hosts at the holiday rental property or resort for guidance. It would help to ask people who have been to that location before – recommendations always help!
5. Carry Your Entertainment: Finally, remember to carry books, games and other forms of entertainment for everyone. This will ensure that “me time” is guaranteed without anyone complaining of boredom! If you are travelling with children, you should check into a holiday rental property where there will be plenty of entertainment at your disposal. Also, the good part is that you will get a homely vibe instead of having to wait in queues to enjoy a certain facility like the pool or a gaming zone. Also, check your cameras and make sure that you carry all the memory sticks so that you do not run out of space. Make sure your laptop or palmtop are always handy to download pictures and take a few new ones!
